Hospital considers private path, but could be long and costly road

When it comes to maximizing revenue, Plumas District Hospital is looking at all possible avenues, but the path to privatization might be too lengthy and costly.

“There are seven time-consuming steps and about a half million dollars in legal fees and work,” said Dr. Jeff Kepple, the hospital’s chief executive officer, during a late December interview.

Kepple first floated the idea of taking the public hospital private during the Dec. 3 board of directors’ meeting.
