HHS touts free preventive services for women

HHS estimates that about 47 million U.S. women are in health insurance plans that must begin to cover eight preventive services for women without any out-of-pocket costs as part of the healthcare reform law. Based on recommendations last year from the Institute of Medicine, the services will be offered without cost-sharing in all new health plans that take effect on the next renewal date—on or after Aug. 1, 2012, for most plans.
