Health plans target Coachella Valley small businesses

With only 10 employees, Studio M Salon and Spa in Palm Springs could get by without offering its employees health insurance, but owner Jarrod Sipe said it was important to give his workers the option.

“But it’s not easy,” Sipe said.

He said he had to wait until 75 percent of his employees agreed to join the plan. He now pays $100 a month for each employee that gets health insurance, with the employees covering the rest of the costs.
