Health care subsidies help 800,000 households under Covered California

About 800,000 California households received federal subsidies to make health care premiums more affordable in 2014, with the estimated average amount of more than $436 per month, Covered California officials announced Monday. These figures translate to an average annual savings of more than $5,200 per household. The total amount of premium assistance was $3.2 billion in federal funding paid to health insurance companies on behalf of people enrolled in private coverage through Covered California in 2014.
