Experts back ‘nanny state’ health efforts

San Francisco politicians love to craft policies aimed at improving the health of their constituents – and people love to mock those efforts.

The most recent example is a ballot measure planned for November 2014 that would levy a 2-cent-per-ounce tax on sodas and other sugary drinks. Comments about the proposal on have included, “Enough of turning life into a nanny state and making it a money-grab in the process!” and “Leave me alone with my Coke.”
