Drug for hepatitis C shouldn’t be so expensive
San Francisco Chronicle

“I am hepatitis C cured.” That’s the claim by drugmaker Gilead Science’s newest advertisement for its hepatitis C drug, Sovaldi. Gilead is not messing around here – the facts are clear. Sovaldi leads to a cure for hepatitis C. It takes 12 weeks of this drug in combination with ultra-cheap generic Ribavirin to achieve this cure – two drugs with few side effects, at least in the short term. And depending on what shape your liver is in, you may only need to take them (or one of the other medications under development) for as little as four weeks to achieve a cure.
