A compound of World War II hospital buildings in North Auburn has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The decision by the director of the National Park Service to list the DeWitt State Hospital comes four months after a hearing before the State Historical Resources Commission in Sacramento. The commission unanimously nominated the 66-acre swath of Placer County-owned structures and land at the Placer County Government Center for inclusion on the national register.
