Covered California’s Obamacare ‘enrollment’ tops 828,000, with a catch
San Francisco Business Times

Covered California, the state’s Obamacare exchange, signed up nearly 829,000 individuals through mid-February in private insurance plans, including 728,410 as of Jan. 31, officials boasted Wednesday morning.

But there’s a twist — the same one that affects the broader 3.3 million sign-ups the Obama Administration has been touting. Through January, only 80 percent of those individuals had paid their first premiums, so the actual number of enrollees is roughly 20 percent less than the figure Covered California is using.
