Covered California update: Nearly 49,000 new Obamacare signups, a few ‘glitches’

California’s second open enrollment for the Covered California Obamacare exchange is advancing at a pace slightly faster than last year’s, officials say, while acknowledging the process hasn’t been “glitch-free” so far. Peter Lee, Covered California’s executive director, called the pace “very strong,” but that may be a slight exaggeration. The exchange boasts 48,950 people who signed up for new private coverage during the first three weeks of open enrollment, Nov. 15 to Dec. 3.
