Covered California beefs up call center workforce

Frustrated Californians waiting on the phone for help with their health insurance questions should get some relief soon, according to the state’s new health exchange, Covered California.

Exchange director Peter Lee said Monday that an additional 250 customer service representatives started training this week at the organization’s Fresno call center. An additional 100, he said, will enter training answering within a few weeks. When the additional 350 call center workers are trained and answering phones the total to about 900.
