California’s Obamacare rollout, by the numbers

The smoke is starting to clear after a frenzied rollout of the new nationwide healthcare exchange systems spawned by the 2010 federal healthcare reform law. On Wednesday, the Covered California state exchange released its most comprehensive numbers to date, showing that more than 59,000 residents have enrolled in some sort of exchange health plan since the program officially launched on Oct. 1. Still, Covered California has a long way to go before it enrolls an anticipated 2 million subsidy-eligible individuals by 2019.
