California Nurses Association, foreign health care union leaders form Global Nurses United

Never a union to let a crisis go to waste, the Oakland-based California Nurses Association is leading an international effort to meld health care unions into a global force against “austerity measures, privatization and cuts in health care services.” The 185,000-member CNA/National Nurses United, led by Executive Director RoseAnn DeMoro, helped form the new international group over the weekend, at a June 22 conclave in San Francisco attended by union representatives from the United States and 13 other nations.
