Blue Shield forced by state to delay its Obamacare cancellations
San Francisco Business Times

California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones will announce Tuesday an agreement with a “major health insurance company” in California to delay by three months cancellation of more than 115,000 individual policies due to Affordable Care Act rules. Blue Shield of California officials confirmed that the San Francisco-based nonprofit insurer is the health plan involved. “Yes, that’s us,” said Steve Shivinsky, a Blue Shield spokesman. But Blue Shield isn’t necessarily happy about the move, which it says it was forced to undertake.
