Blue Shield forced to delay health insurance cancellations
Sacramento Business Journal

California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones is expected to announce an agreement today with a “major health insurance company” in California to delay by three months cancellation of more than 115,000 individual policies due to Affordable Care Act rules, according to the San Francisco Business Times. Blue Shield of California officials confirmed that the San Francisco-based nonprofit insurer is the health plan involved. “Yes, that’s us,” said Steve Shivinsky, a Blue Shield spokesman. But Blue Shield isn’t necessarily happy about the move, which it says it was forced to undertake.
