Bill would require doctors on probation to tell their patients
San Francisco Business Times

A bill to require physicians on probation to notify their patients has advanced in the state Senate.

Senate Bill 1033 would apply to medical doctors, acupuncturists, chiropractors and podiatrists. A similar rule was rejected by the state’s medical board last year, although the board did form a task force to work on the issue.

Roughly 500 licensed physicians in California are on some kind of probation, including about 20 in the Sacramento area. Consumer groups complain the medical board doesn’t move quickly enough to discipline doctors or provide enough transparency.
