AMA House of Delegates events start on somber note

Dr. Andrew Gurman, speaker of the American Medical Association House of Delegates, is known for starting off the AMA policy-making body’s annual meeting in Chicago with a light and humorous touch. But on Saturday, after noting it would be the last time the annual meeting would be held on a Fathers Day weekend, Gurman began the proceedings with a video recalling the bombings at the Boston Marathon finish line, the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, and the devastating tornado that hit Moore, Okla. The video highlighted the physicians, nurses and other first-responders who treated the wounded.
