After Prime Healthcare pullout: 3 scenarios for Daughters of Charity

Now that Prime Healthcare Services has yanked its $843 million bid to buy six safety net hospitals from the Daughters of Charity Health System, it confronts a set of scenarios, some of them quite grim. In particular jeopardy is Daly City’s Seton Medical Center, which requires a seismic rebuild and upgrade that could easily cost $350 million it doesn’t have.

San Mateo County officials gave dramatically different takes on the possibility of the county stepping in and buying Seton, in a story published Thursday by the San Mateo Daily Journal.
