Exchange Board Announces New Director

The California Health Benefit Exchange Board recently announced that Peter Lee has accepted the position of executive director. Lee will leave his current role as director of delivery system reform at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), where he is responsible for coordinating the implementation of many aspects of the Affordable Care Act and directs development of the National Quality Strategy. Lee will join the California Health Benefit Exchange, the largest health purchasing exchange in the country, on Oct. 17. As the executive director, Lee will report directly to the exchange board. In this new role, Lee will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in formulating the exchange’s strategic objectives and bringing them to the board for input, discussion and decision making. He will also be responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships and communication with key stakeholders, and the executive and legislative branches of federal and state government.
