Elective Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Pilot Program
CDPH has issued an All Facilities Letter on the program

The California Department of Public Health has issued the attached All Facilities Letter (AFL 09-33) providing directions to hospitals that would like to apply to participate in the Elective Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Pilot Program.

The pilot program will allow participating general acute-care hospitals to perform elective coronary interventions even if they do not have an onsite cardiac surgery center. Authority for the pilot is based on SB 891 (Chapter 295, Statutes of 2008). Prior to the passage of SB 891, hospitals without onsite cardiac surgery capabilities could only perform percutaneous coronary intervention in emergency situations.
