CHA Opposes New Legislation Mandating Charity Care Spending for Not-for-Profit Hospitals
by C. Duane Dauner, President/CEO, California Hospital Association

SACRAMENTO (February 25, 2013) The California Hospital Association (CHA) opposes Assembly Bill (AB) 975 (Wieckowski/Bonta), which would impose an 8 percent mandate for charity care spending and replace local control with Sacramento regulations on all not-for-profit hospitals.  Instead of community-based programs that address the needs of local residents, AB 975 would force a one-size-fits-all mandate on hospitals across the state.
