California Hospitals Congratulate Election Winners, Urge Bipartisan Approach to Address Key Issues

The California Hospital Association (CHA) congratulates all of the winners in yesterday’s election. Many challenging issues face our elected officials at both the state and national levels. CHA looks forward to working in a bipartisan manner with our lawmakers to find sound short- and long-term solutions.

At the federal level, CHA has longstanding and close relationships with members of the California congressional delegation on both sides of the aisle. We look forward to the opportunity to work with newly elected leaders on behalf of California’s hospitals and the patients they serve.

Topping CHA’s federal agenda during the upcoming lame-duck session of Congress are the extension of the current physician fee schedule and relief from the -2.9 percent Medicare inpatient hospital payment cuts imposed by the Administration earlier this year. Additionally, CHA will urge lawmakers to revise newly released rules that restrict payments for health information technology to hospitals with multiple campuses.

In Sacramento, CHA looks forward to working closely with Governor-Elect Brown and his team to address the myriad of state issues that impact the ability of hospitals to deliver high-quality, medically necessary patient care. Among these will be the implementation of the newly approved five-year, $10 billion Medi-Cal financing waiver and development of long-term hospital financing options.
