Health Policy Legislative Day
Advocating for patients and your hospitals

March 12 & 13, 2013
Sacramento, California

Health Policy Legislative Day is a critical component of our legislative advocacy. California’s elected representatives must hear how proposed legislation and potential budget cuts will impact the ability of hospitals to care for patients. Hospital CEOs and executives are urged to come to Sacramento and tell their story. We must maintain a strong presence and protect patient access to hospital services.

Register today for this important advocacy program!

The current top legislative priorities for Health Policy Legislative Day are:

  • Preventing payment cuts to hospitals that operate skilled nursing facilities;
  • Modernizing the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act regarding 5150 involuntary patient holds;
  • Minimizing patient discharge delays; and
  • Developing a new hospital fee for 2014–15.

Additional priorities may be identified as new bills are introduced.

To facilitate the scheduling of meetings with the Legislature, members are urged to register by February 22.

All program events will be held at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento.

After attendees register for the program, CHA’s advocacy staff will schedule appointments with members of the Legislature on their behalf. Appointments will be made with the senator and assemblymember representing the district where the hospital is located. Additional appointments may be made with legislators from surrounding districts and other key legislators. Hospital executives can request specific appointments when they register and every effort will be made to accommodate the request. To facilitate the scheduling of appointments, members are strongly encouraged to register by February 22.

Most meetings will be group meetings with hospital executives from the area and scheduling will be coordinated with input from the Regional Associations. A hospital “Team Leader” is selected to direct each meeting and team leaders will be notified in advance.

The schedule of appointments will be e-mailed to all registrants one week prior to the program.

This program is for executives of CHA-member hospitals only and the deadline to register is February 22. To encourage members to register by the deadline, registration fees are discounted.
