Sutter Delta fined in connection with patient death
Sacramento Business Journal

State health officials have levied a $50,000 fine against Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch for failure to adequately monitor a cardiac patient who was found unresponsive in a hospital bed, suffered irreversible brain injury and died when removed from life support. The first administrative penalty levied against the hospital, the fine was one of 12 announced Wednesday by the California Department of Public Health for noncompliance with state licensing requirements that caused — or was likely to cause — serious injury or death to patients.
