Salinas Valley Memorial puts off affiliation move
Monterey Herald

Hammered by accusations that they were skirting public transparency requirements, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital officials on Thursday postponed hiring a national health care investment-banking firm to look at possible affiliation with larger organizations.

By a unanimous vote, the board put off a vote on hiring Cain Brothers until October to allow more public scrutiny, including a promise to put the firm’s proposal on the hospital’s website and to conduct a special night meeting to allow the public to weigh in.
