Kaiser Permanente chimes in on strike threat by NUHW

Hours after the National Union of Healthcare Workers offered up a provocative threat to launch a series of short strikes at Kaiser Permanente hospitals and clinics statewide, Kaiser officials responded by saying they’re “disappointed” by the strike notice at an early stage in contract negotiations. Kaiser’s Gay Westfall, senior vice president of human resources for Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan, also noted that Kaiser understands that the California Nurses Association is “preparing to call” for a walkout as well, although CNA pointedly did not confirm this earlier in the day.
