Enloe Medical Center may have avoided losing more than $1 million a year by making its patients happier. Across the nation, hospitals survey patients, asking them to evaluate their stays. They’re asked about such things as the cleanliness of the rooms, how well their pain was managed, how soon their call light was answered, and how well doctors and nurses communicated with them.
