Is Your Volunteer Program Counted in the 2014/15 California Hospital Volunteer Impact Survey?
The deadline is October 31, 2015

If your hospital has not yet completed the 2014/15 California Hospital Impact Survey, there are just a few weeks left for you to participate before the October 31 deadline. Until now, one of the hardest things to measure in the hospital volunteer sector has been the impact volunteers have on meeting hospital and health system goals. The barriers to collecting hospital volunteer impact data are numerous and daunting. The largest impediments are that each hospital maintains its own style of calculating volunteer statistics, or has no electronic system for gathering and comparing volunteer data. In addition, each hospital’s volunteer organizational structure, staffing and programs are uniquely designed for that hospital. Therefore, hospital volunteer organizations have not had a tool to measure data that can be fed into a collective, statewide database allowing them to measure their own impact data and compare their data against hospitals of similar size, setting and type.

On November 15, 2014, a personalized invitation to complete a California Hospital Volunteer Impact Survey© was sent to one designated volunteer leader at each California Hospital Association member hospital.

This inaugural survey is the beginning of a multi-year plan to build a robust California hospital volunteer impact database.  We anticipate it will take a few years for hospital volunteer programs to adjust their recordkeeping processes to answer all of the survey questions. We are collaborating for collective benefit. Individual hospital responses will not be disclosed.
