On October 21, 2016, the CAHHS Volunteer Services Office received the following inquiry from Bill Cunningham, Volunteer at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, California:

What are your procedures and/or best practices for cleaning wheelchairs after use?  Who has the responsibility to ensure that wheelchairs are cleaned following each use?

Wheelchair cleaning

All volunteers are oriented on cleansing wheelchairs, using Sani-Cloth AF 3, a germicidal disposal wipe, at their initial orientaiton. They subsequently are instructed to wipe down each wheelchair in the Escort Office first thing each morning, and then after each discharge. As Coordinator, I periodically observe compliance, and consel as necessary. We don't often have discrepencies
