Volunteer Administration, Retail Science Featured at Upcoming Conference

Among the variety of educational opportunities at this year’s 2016 California Hospital Volunteer Leadership Conference will be two tracks dedicated to improving attendees’ skills in volunteer administration and retail science. The conference, presented by the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (CAHHS) Volunteer Services, will be held Feb. 15-18 at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course.

Mary McCormack, CAVS, will facilitate the Association of Hospital Volunteer Resources Professionals Principles of Volunteer Resource Management track. The track’s five sessions include Volunteer Services Role in the Health Care Industry; Strategic Planning and Program Enhancements; Program Organization and Administration; Risk Management; and Process Improvement, Technology and Professional Development. This track is targeted to both new and experienced staff and volunteer leaders.

Studies have shown that customers shop in hospital gift shops for two reasons: to change their mood or to change someone else’s mood. Lilly Stamets, gift shop manager, UCSF Medical Center, will facilitate the 2016 CAHHS Retail Science Academy. Sessions featuring hospital gift shop panel experts will focus on topics such as The Science and Soul of Best Sellers and Prophet Margins. Attendees who successfully complete all retail sessions will receive a CAHHS Retail Science Academy certificate of completion.
