Vice President Business Finance

Based in Sacramento, the California Hospital Association is the statewide leader representing the interests of hospitals and health systems in California. CHA represents nearly 450 hospital and health system members, and more than 150 Executive, Associate and Personal members.  CHA provides members with state and federal representation and advocacy in the legislative and regulatory arenas through an agenda designed to improve access to quality, cost-effective health care services.

CHA is seeking a full time Vice President Business Finance to recognize, assess, and communicate key regulations and policy changes affecting hospital business finance and financial management.  This includes analyzing and disseminating the technical details regarding business finance related policy changes to member hospitals; modeling and quantifying the financial impact of proposed policy changes; formulating legislative and regulatory positions related to hospital financial management, along with simulations of the impacts; representing CHA with state agencies and other stakeholders  where hospital business finance and financial management knowledge is appropriate; soliciting feedback from CHA members for representation and advocacy purposes; and providing consultative support to internal team members on hospital business finance and financial management issues.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field; MBA or MHA preferred.  Other requirements include:

Minimum of ten years of experience in a hospital working on hospital business finance issues, including significant experience in financial management, analysis, modeling, payment systems, cost reporting, and OSHPD financial and utilization data reports;
Thorough working knowledge of hospital revenue sources and expense uses, regulations, procedures, and business and financial reporting for all types of healthcare entities;
Ability to organize, plan, and be effective at managing multiple priorities under pressure in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment;
Ability to work independently, using initiative, excellent judgment, and creative problem solving skills;
Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills;
Strong computer skills, including advanced skill level with MS Office applications and database programs;
Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals and organizations; and
Ability and willingness to work irregular hours, including some weekends and overnight travel.
