Senior Vice President Strategic Communications

The California Hospital Association is the statewide leader representing and advocating the interests of hospitals, health systems, and other health care providers in California in the legislative and regulatory arenas.  We are seeking a high-level communications executive for our downtown Sacramento office to develop and implement a highly effective, diverse, and integrated digital advocacy communications plan in support of CHA’s public policy priorities.

General Summary

As a member of CHA’s executive management team, you will use your extensive knowledge of digital and traditional media to develop and cultivate communications strategies and campaigns that effectively educate, persuade, and mobilize stakeholders around our members’ interests and policy objectives.  You will be charged with ensuring that both traditional and digital media resources are being utilized in the most strategic and effective manner, coordinating messaging strategies and output, and analyzing data generated by digital campaigns to validate success.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in communications, journalism, public policy, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in communications strategy
  • Expertise in political campaigns, online advocacy, issue organizing, or a related field is strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding and interest in digital media and its uses in effective advocacy strategy
  • Strong collaboration skills and being effective at making the best use of resources and galvanizing people to achieve the overall mission
  • Ability to lead projects and seamlessly coordinate work flow and teams
  • Intellectual curiosity and an insatiable drive to stay current and relevant
  • Political astuteness
  • Proven strategic thinking skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking
  • Ability to manage dynamic and differing needs, interests, and viewpoints of multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, quickly evolving environment
