RAC Activities Increase – AHA Offers Online Tool

Health Data Insights (HDI), the Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) for California, has been issuing Additional Documentation Request (ADR) letters to hospitals for diagnosis-related group validations over the last month. Letters have been sent to the contact name given to HDI, or to the hospital’s Chief Financial Officer or Compliance Officer if no name was provided.

To ensure that the RAC contractor has the correct contact information, hospitals should visit the HDI website at https://racinfo.healthdatainsights.com/. If you are having trouble with the website, you can call HDI at 1(866)360-2507.

To track the impact of RAC activity on hospitals, the American Hospital Association (AHA) is sponsoring a web-based survey – RACTrac- to collect and summarize hospital RAC activity nationwide. The AHA is holding a RACTrac Nationwide Launch Webinar on March 25, 2010. Hospitals can learn more about RACTrac by visiting the AHA website: http://www.aha.org/aha/issues/RAC/ractrac.html.

To date, hospitals have reported few problems to CHA. If you are having any difficulties, please contact Anne McLeod, vice president, finance policy, at amcleod@calhospital.org or (916)552-7536.
