Based in Sacramento, the California Hospital Association is the statewide leader representing the interests of nearly 400 hospitals and health systems in California.We collaborate with our members to provide strong and effective representation and advocacy to advance the interests of California hospitals, patients and communities through an agenda designed to improve access to quality, cost-effective health care services.CHA is a trusted resource, working with members to achieve legislative, regulatory and legal accomplishments at the state and federal level.

The California Hospital Engagement Network (“CalHEN”) is funded by a grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Partnership for Patients Initiative.  The Project Coordinator is a grant-funded position.  The purpose of this position is to ensure hospitals achieve success in the area of patient safety, including reducing all hospital acquired conditions, obstetrical harm, readmissions, and developing an organizational culture focused on patient safety. The project coordinator will assist with support of all aspects of implementation of the CalHEN project.  This includes development of communications materials, meeting coordination, support of implementation of hospital site visits, as well as supporting staff in the field with tracking participation of members and coordinating information from participating hospitals.  This position will draft copy as appropriate, coordinate subject matter experts, coordinate activities local to California with those activities provided by the American Hospital Association’s Health Education Research and Trust (HRET).

Under the direction of the California Hospital Association, the Project Coordinator will work closely with potential partners, the Hospital Association of Southern California, the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California, the Hospital Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties, and the California Hospital Patient Safety Organization to implement multiple projects and maintain compliance with federal contracting requirements.

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and at least 5 years direct experience in project coordination or event planning.  Knowledge and experience of patient safety and quality improvement in healthcare including development of an organizational culture for safety.  Expert level proficiency in MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).  Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented.  Must demonstrate strong technical and analytical skills.  Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.  Must have strong customer service skills for both internal and external customers.  Ability to work under pressure, manages multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.  Candidate must have the ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision and must work well and effectively as a team member.  Knowledge of hospital and health care systems is helpful.
