President Signs Proclamation on 2011 National Volunteer Week
Urges Americans to volunteer April 10 to 16

On April 7, President Barack Obama signed a National Volunteer Week proclamation, calling on Americans to observe April 10 through April 16 by volunteering for service projects and pledging to make service a part of their daily lives.

The proclamation specifically identifies volunteers as the lifeblood of hospitals, as well as schools, shelters, hotlines and faith-based organizations and community groups.
