Performance Data Analyst

The Performance Data Analyst – CalHEN 2.0 is a grant-funded position linked to the California Hospital Engagement Network 2.0 (CalHEN 2.0), part of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Partnership for Patients (PfP) Initiative.  The primary responsibility for the position is to ensure the completion of data-related requirements and task orders of CalHEN 2.0.

The Performance Data Analyst will serve as the liaison between the CalHEN 2.0 team, participating hospitals and CMS (via HRET as the primary contractor) with regard to data reporting, tracking, measurement and analysis, and developing and maintaining data infrastructure and processes to support CalHEN 2.0.  Specific responsibilities include providing expertise and coaching about the HEN relational database (CDS); conducting analyses specific to quality measures and identifying trends and issues; creating data reports and analyses for identified processes, outcome measures, culture of safety surveys, and other measures; assisting with data reporting efforts of CalHEN hospitals, including submission of data on behalf of the hospitals.

The successful candidate will possess:

Degree and experience in a clinical field.
Post graduate degree in statistics, health services research, or public health preferred.
Superior analytical skills with at least five years of experience providing analysis of complex data sets and presenting findings in reports for clinical and operational improvement.
Proven ability to transform raw data into accurate and useful formats and information.
Proven ability to effectively communicate complex, technical information in a user-friendly, non-technical manner.
In-depth knowledge of healthcare quality measures and specifications is a must; experience with measure development, testing and re-specification is desirable.
Familiarity with state and federal health care policy and regulatory landscape is highly desired.
Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint.)
Experience and effectiveness in providing direct technical assistance and customer support.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, timeline driven environment and complete analysis, identify issues and address problems in a professional manner.
Demonstrates strong organizing skills and attention to detail.
