Manager Hospital Quality Intelligence Initiative

Hospital Quality Institute (HQI) supports and enhances quality/safety improvement in California hospitals and hospital systems. We are looking for a Manager to lead the design, construction and maintenance of a system of data acquisition, analytics and timely feedback to support hospital safety and quality improvement activities. The work will result in development of a web application for California hospitals offering access to integrated data and actionable intelligence for improving care. The person will also be involved with data-related activities of HQI’s California Hospital Engagement Network 2.0 (CalHEN 2.0), a project of Partnership for Patients Initiative, of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This position collaborates with HQI’s academic and analytics partner, the UC Davis Institute for Population Health Improvement (IPHI) to provide superior product and services to members.

The successful candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, public health, health informatics or related field; post-graduate or advanced degree preferred.
Significant experience effectively managing complex, multi-stakeholder data projects from start to finish.
Health care informatics experience preferred.
Strong problem solving, analytical, and quantitative skills. 
Discriminating consumer of research with “translation skills”, enabling effective communication of technical information in a user-friendly, non-technical manner.
Experience with at least one large project life-cycle and associated processes.
Successful experience providing constructive leadership to a team, including external designers and engineers.
Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint.)
Experience with healthcare quality measure development and familiarity with state and federal health care policy and regulatory landscape is desired.
Experience coaching, providing direct technical assistance, and customer support.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, timeline driven environment and complete analysis, identify issues and address problems in a professional manner.
Demonstrated strong organizing skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate effective team-promoting behavior.
