External Affairs Coordinator

We currently have a great opportunity for an ambitious professional with 1-3 years’ experience in the communications field and an education in public relations, communications, marketing, or journalism.  We are looking for an External Affairs Coordinator to provide support to the Vice President, External Affairs and the Vice President, Digital Advocacy.  Duties include, but are not limited to: word processing; writing and proofreading of press releases and other materials, electronic distribution of media materials, website posting and maintenance, and various administrative dutie s, including coordination of travel arrangements, file maintenance, answering phone calls for supervisors as needed including calls from the media, processing of mail and invoices, and assistance with daily news clippings.  This position assists in calendaring and coordinating meetings, assisting in developing PowerPoint presentation and database list management tasks.

The successful candidate will have prior administrative support experience in a professional office setting -public relations/communications firm experience preferred- and a degree in public relations, marketing or journalism;  experience with social media outreach campaigns; proficiency with MS Office software; excellent communication, both orally and in writing; customer service skills; professional handling of telephone calls; ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials in a professional manner; ability to organize and be detail-oriented, plan, manage time, and work independently; ability to adapt well to changing priorities with a positive attitude; and a terrific “can-do” attitude.
