Director of Publishing and Marketing

We are currently looking for an experienced Director, Marketing and Publishing for the Publishing and Education Department, a revenue generating department of the association. This position is responsible for publishing and marketing legal manuals for hospital executives, as well as an annual membership directory.

Responsibilities include developing marketing plan/tactics; writing copy for webpages, emails, direct mail and other marketing materials; managing publishing process of large, technical manuals and membership directory; ad sales for the directory; directing designers; managing web content and functionality; and some buying printing. Will work closely with department staff of nine, in-house issue specialists, contracted speakers and authors. Manages one staff member.

The successful candidate will have excellent writing and proofreading skills and the ability to understand and write about complex health care issues; strong working knowledge of marketing principles; and ability to manage publishing. We are looking for someone to help us transition to electronic publishing. Knowledge of electronic publishing, hospitals and/or health care a plus. A bachelor’s degree or comparable experience is required; degree in Communications or Marketing preferred.
