Design Guide for Behavioral Health Facilities

Edition 4.3 of the Design Guide for the Built Environment of Behavioral Health Facilities was released in May of this year. This guide is distributed by the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS) and addresses the built environment of adult inpatient units. It is not a replacement for regulatory requirements, but an augmentation of them, detailing practical applications to protect patients and staff, and identifying specific items and manufacturers and explains why they are appropriate for use in these settings.

You may download the Guide free of charge from the NAPHS website.
