Data System Analyst and Project Manager

Hospital Quality Institute (HQI) supports and enhances quality/safety improvement in California hospitals and hospital systems.

We are looking for a Data System and Project Manager to lead the design, construction and maintenance of a system of data acquisition, analytics and timely feedback to support hospital safety and quality improvement activities to accomplish HQI objectives.  This will include development of Hospital Quality Intelligence Initiative, a web application for California hospitals offering access to integrated data and actionable intelligence for improving care.  This position will also manage any residual or newly emerging data related activities stemming from the work of the California Hospital Engagement Network (CalHEN), a project of Partnership for Patients Initiative, of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.  This position partners with the UC Davis Institute for Population Health Improvement (IPHI) to provide superior product and services to members.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in statistics, social science, or public health; while a post- graduate or advanced degree is preferred.  The candidate will have significant experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder data projects from start to finish.  Ability to analyze complex data sets and present findings in reports for clinical improvement and operational improvement is a must.  Experience with EHR quality measures, measure specification, and quality measures development and testing is highly desirable.  The candidate should possess advanced skill level in Microsoft Office software programs, including but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; experience providing direct technical assistance and customer support; excellent analytical skills; and superior organizational skills and orientation to detail. Familiarity with state and federal health care initiatives and policies and federal agencies such as the CMS and AHRQ is preferred.  Must have ability to follow directions and work effectively with minimal supervision; excellent written and verbal communication skills; customer-focused, pleasant interpersonal and professional demeanor; ability to work effectively in a team; and ability to travel overnight on an occasional basis.
