The California Hospital Association is seeking a full-time, seasoned Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations. Our association is the leading voice representing California’s hospitals before state and federal legislators and regulators in our work to advance better health for all Californians.

This role is a key position at CHA and will have functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant administration, and reporting activities. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and supervises a staff of nine.

This position requires a BA degree in Accounting, Finance ad/or Business.  CPA license a plus. Other desired qualifications include:

Ten years of hands-on accounting experience, with at least five years at the controller level preferred

Five years of experience leading an accounting team preferred

Experience in a multi-company environment

Solid understanding of GAAP

Strong knowledge and experience with all aspects of month-end closings, general ledger reconciliation and financial statement preparation

Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and computerized GL system

Excellent organizational and analytical skills

Ability to plan and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and dynamic environment

Customer service orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently, exercise initiative and excellent judgment

Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals and organizations

Preferred requirements:

Nonprofit and grant accounting experience

Treasury experience

Great Plains experience
