Communications Coordinator

We are looking for a Communications Coordinator to provide support to the Vice President, External Affairs and the Vice President, Public Advocacy.  The successful candidate will have a degree in public relations, marketing or journalism and prior experience in a professional office setting, public relations/communications firm experience preferred; experience with social media outreach campaigns; proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint); excellent communication, both orally and in writing; ability to write press releases; proofreading; customer service skills; professional handling of telephone calls; ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials in a professional manner; ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines; ability to organize and be detail-oriented, plan, manage time, and work independently; ability to adapt well to changing priorities with a positive attitude, ability and willingness to work as an effective team member; and a terrific “can-do” attitude.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious job seeker educated in public relations, communications, marketing, or journalism.  Duties include, but are not limited to: writing and proofreading of press releases and other materials, website posting and maintenance, social media outreach assistance, coordination of travel arrangements, file maintenance, answering phone calls for supervisors as needed including calls from the media, composition and transcription, word processing; processing of mail, and assistance with daily news clippings.  This position coordinates committee and task force mailings, emailing, meeting set-up and coordination, and database list management tasks on an ongoing basis.  Also assists with PowerPoint presentations.
