Hospital Quality Institute is responsible for establishing a statewide strategy and vision for patient safety and quality improvement.

We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer to orchestrate the operational details and tactical work plan of the HQI portfolio of programs and initiatives to assure a smooth, seamless operation that delivers timely, consistent and aligned products and services of value to member hospitals.  This position has direct responsibility for operations and budget of HQI and managing internal affairs, including facilitating cross-departmental teams to solve – problems, manage projects, share resources and achieve creative plus cost effective outcomes.  Partners with President/CEO to develop and implement strategy; to assure optimal workflow, attention to detail, and follow through of initiatives and activities.  This position requires a high level of initiative, professionalism, discretion, judgment and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate will have an advanced degree in healthcare at Masters level or above.  Minimum of five to ten years’ health care leadership and management experience with progressive responsibility.  Knowledge and experience in leading improvement with evidence-based methods and tools.  Strong influence, collaboration, teaming, and leadership abilities.  Excellent ability to effectively manage projects and initiatives.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, internal and external to the organization.  Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly verbally and in writing for multiple audiences and levels of sophistication.  Demonstrated strong organizational skills. Clarity of thought and action; linked to strategy and work plan.  Ability to give and receive feedback.  Excellent mentoring skills.  Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
