CHA Launches New ‘Caring is our Calling’ Patient Safety Campaign

CHA’s Public Advocacy Program has launched a new patient safety awareness campaign to showcase the great strides California hospitals are making to improve the quality of care for patients, families and communities.

Branded “Caring is our Calling,” the new safe-patient care campaign will inform the public about how California’s community hospitals are leading the way into a new era of patient safety. The campaign also will empower everyone — patients, family members, health care workers and hospital visitors — to help prevent the spread of infections by washing hands and getting annual flu shots and vaccinations.

The cornerstone of this new educational campaign is a one-minute television commercial in English and Spanish that began airing statewide Oct. 6 on cable and broadcast networks. The commercial will run throughout October, primarily on news and public affairs programming.

CHA’s integrated campaign also includes a public affairs program with a press release and four patient safety issue briefs highlighting hospital patient safety case studies, a video short featuring case studies, a branded website (www.CaringisourCalling.org) and social/digital media outreach efforts.

“California hospitals hold a sacred trust with the communities they serve,” said CHA President/CEO C. Duane Dauner. “Our campaign positively positions and promotes the diligent work of hospitals to improve quality outcomes and prevent patient harm. Our campaign reinforces the trust and favorable opinions that people have about their local community hospital.”
