CHA Encourages Hospitals to Attend June 2 Rally at State Capitol
Send message to Legislature to eliminate Medi-Cal rate cuts

A broad-based coalition of Medi-Cal providers, known as We Care for California, will sponsor a rally at the State Capitol on June 2 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The goal of the advocacy event is to urge the Legislature and the Administration to eliminate the AB 97 (2011) Medi-Cal rate cuts and increase Medi-Cal payments to health care providers and health plans during the upcoming state budget negotiations. Because success will be determined by support from hospitals and other members of the coalition, CHA encourages members to send a strong contingent of employees to this key event. Additional details about the day’s agenda will be provided as they become available.

By June 15, the Legislature must pass a state budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year and send it to the Governor for his action. The new budget will take effect July 1, 2015. The June 2 event is important to hospital efforts to encourage lawmakers to provide additional Medi-Cal funding in the new state budget.

The event specifics are:

Date: Tuesday, June 2
Time: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: West steps, State Capitol, Sacramento
Transportation: Buses to and from Sacramento will be provided

See attached tentative bus schedule. CHA will provide a finalized scheduled prior to the event.

CHA encourages members to support this advocacy event by attending and making arrangements for employees to participate. The coalition’s goal is 5,000 attendees. Buses will leave from strategic locations throughout the state to provide transportation to and from the Capitol. Meals and beverages also will be provided.

Funding for the event is being provided by members of the We Care for California coalition and Caring for Californians, the CHA and Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers-West Labor Management Committee.
