CAHHS Partnership Connects Volunteers With Organ Donors
April is National Donate Life Month

The California Association for Hospitals and Health Systems (CAHHS) Volunteer Services is partnering with Donate Life California, an alliance of national organizations and local organ donation coalitions, to support National Donate Life Month. CAHHS will co-present a webinar on April 9 from 11 a.m. – noon (PT) with Donate Life California, offering tools to educate, inspire and engage hospital communities to save lives through organ, eye and tissue donations.

CAHHS launched its partnership with Donate Life California to connect hospitals and hospital volunteers with organ procurement activities in February at its annual Hospital Volunteer Leadership Conference, where volunteer leaders from around the state heard personal stories from donors and from organ recipients.

“We have between 50,000 and 100,000 hospital volunteers throughout the state,” said CAHHS Director of Volunteer Services Joan Cardellino. “So, when it comes to initiatives like the Donate Life California program, it’s a perfect marriage.”

CAHHS plans to continue its partnership with Donate Life California this year to create a hospital volunteer toolkit for hospitals and state associations to assist with recruiting organ donors.
