Benefits and Compensation Specialist

CHA is currently seeking an experienced, hands-on human resources professional to manage benefits and compensation in a very service-oriented department.  This position develops and manages effective working relationships with the CAHHS benefits broker and third party vendors to properly administer benefit programs.  Other benefit-related duties include communicating benefit information to employees, staying current on and ensuring compliance with all laws that pertain to benefit plans, keeping up with emerging benefit trends and making recommendations on plan changes, managing the annual open enrollment process, and ensuring completion of annual benefit plan nondiscrimination testing, 401(k) plan audit, required benefit plan notices preparation and dissemination, and federal reporting.  This position is also responsible for a variety of other human resource activities, including compensation surveys, coordination of wellness programs, assistance with employee events, and other duties as needed.  Flexibility, responsiveness, attention to detail, and consistent production of high quality work are critical qualities for success in this position.

The requirements for this position include:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, human resource management, or related field.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible human resources benefits experience in a corporate environment with multiple locations.
CBP or SPHR/PHR designations desired.
Current working knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
Current working knowledge of all applicable federal and state benefit program regulations and requirements.
Advanced skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with ADP and Visio desirable.
Strong analytical skills to identify and gather information from a variety of sources, prepare reports and convey facts, conclusions and recommendations.
Working knowledge of/familiarity with a variety of benefit plan designs.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work well with others in a helpful and friendly manner.
Strong initiative and problem solving skills.
Excellent judgment and decision making abilities.
