The California Hospital Patient Safety Organization (“CHPSO”) was created by the California Hospital Association to lead California’s efforts towards eliminating preventable patient harm and improving the quality of health care delivery in hospitals. CHPSO is one of the largest Patient Safety Organizations in the nation and has access to data from over 700 hospitals.CHPSO’s initiatives include providing a collaborative and privileged environment where hospitals can share data and best practices, analyzing adverse outcomes and developing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence, developing education materials, and serving as a statewide resource for patient-safety initiatives in California.

This position is primarily responsible for providing organization, project management, and administrative support for the CHPSO Executive Director and staff.  This includes managing calendars, arranging travel, coordinating meetings, maintaining rosters and distribution lists, maintaining data, creating reports, preparing documents and presentations, maintaining files and records, updating website content, and other various duties in support of the Executive Director and staff.  Excellent customer service, to each other and to our constituents, is our continual objective.

To be successful, you will need to have the following education, skills and talents:

- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in business administration or public health preferred.
- Minimum of five years providing administrative support in a professional setting.
- At least one year of project management experience.
- Prior experience providing analysis and reports using Microsoft Access for management’s use strongly preferred.
- Advanced skill level in MS Office software programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.  Experience in Adobe InDesign preferred.
- Experience maintaining website content and utilizing social network media.
- Excellent ability to effectively organize and manage projects and deadlines.
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong degree of initiative and ability to problem solve.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to effectively multi-task is a must.
