Part II Of The Patient/Family Engagement Webinar May Be For You!

This webinar will focus on the “How to’s” of developing a Patient Advisory Council at your hospital.  Lessons learned and critical elements of this program will be discussed including: preparing and educating hospital staff; logistic, structure and role of an Advisory Council; and most importantly who to approach, screen and interview to represent the patient and family perspective.  Reference sources, materials and networking groups will be shared with participants to provide ongoing guidance.  Arlene Pergamit, RN and a Patient Advisor from Kaiser San Diego Kaiser Permanente will share with you their journey to implementing an effective Patient Advisory Council.  Dr. Suzanne Graham, RN will provide you with insights, tips and success stories from a national perspective.

Faculty

Suzanne Graham, RN, PhD, Executive Director, Patient Safety, California Regions – Ms. Graham is a graduate of the Kaiser Permanente Advanced Leadership Program and the IHI Patient Safety Officer Executive training program.  She is a member of several national patient safety groups including the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Advisory Board.  In 2006 Suzanne received the first National Patient Safety Foundation Chairman’s Medal in recognition of leadership in patient Safety.

Arlene Pergamit, BA, Project Manager, Service Excellence/Patient Care Experience, San Diego Kaiser Permanente – Arlene has  worked at Kaiser Permanente San Diego since October, 2008.  In her current role, her responsibilities include managing the Patient and Family Centered Care Advisory Council, patient care experience training and coaching, and developing HCAHPS data reports.  Previously, Arlene worked in analysis and reporting, overseeing a team of analysts serving all of Kaiser Permanente San Diego with ad hoc query development, data extraction, and maintenance reporting services.  Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Arlene was a Senior Business Service Analysis for Kinetic Concepts Incorporated, a medical device manufacturer.  Arlene managed all areas of patient service and operations analysis for thirty medical equipment patient service centers with an annual revenue of $210M.  Arlene holds a BA in Economics from the University of California, San Diego where she graduated Magna cum Laude.  Active in public service, she has served on various boards and community groups, including the Rotary Club, Elizabeth Hospice, United Way, YMCA, MADD, and March of Dimes.
