Wholesale hospital, doc-office prices edge up

Wholesale prices for services at acute-care hospitals increased 0.2% for the second straight month in August, preliminary figures released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics show. That’s compared with a 0.5% bump in August 2009, according to the agency’s Producer Price Index. Acute-care hospital prices climbed 3.1% for the 12-month period ended in August, roughly the same as the prior year’s increase of 3.2%.
